My son and I just had a fantastic day fly fishing for the first time with Harry, a superb guide, who had us dialing in on the fly rod technique within 15 minutes! We were the only people on this beautiful stretch of the Housatonic. We caught around 20 fish! First time out. We’ll be back again in the spring for sure!!

Very low water, bright, hot afternoon...not ideal conditions but Harry knew every nook and cranny of the river and got us hooked into a bunch of Smallmouth and even a couple of Trout and a Pike. His knowledge of the river and ability to pinpoint fish with just the right presentation was uncanny. A true fishing Jedi! And a great guy. Can't wait to go fishing with him again.

Harry is very easy to be on the boat with, shared a ton of knowledge about flies and fish and made the day an overall success. This was a surprise trip for me and we had an amazing experience with our guide Rick. He was very helpful, friendly and an all around expert teaching us first timers how to fly fish. Being on the river was peaceful and we caught plenty of trout!

I hadn't thought about floating it, but with, at last, highish water this year and a jealous eye on a guide with Berkshire Rivers Fly Fishing, a friend and I took on Harry Desmond. Wowza. We had a four-hour trip, which turned out to be a bit longer, with Harry's infinite patience, and caught some very decent fish, including a fat 18-inch brown. I thought I knew fly fishing, but under Harry's instruction and advice learned even more. I've been with many guides over the years; Harry was a standout. I plan to return with him to the Housy and others in our neck of the woods and recommend him highly to both fresh and experienced anglers.

We engaged Harry Desmond , partner with Berkshire Rivers Fly Fishing, to guide me and my friend David, with a float trip on the Housatonic River above the Covered Wooden bridge. I had previously met Harry's business partner Rick , who was very forthcoming with information regarding his own client trip, earlier. Harry is the epitome of a great fishing guide, courteous, friendly, instructive, positively critical when needed, and his intimate knowledge of river flows , climate effects and feeding patterns , resulted in a very successful day for both of us, catching both Browns and Rainbows

He provided very helpful instruction and conducted active guiding and assistance through the afternoon, and we moved throughout the river testing our skills and looking for pockets where the fish could bite. I think what was really cool though is that he is really psyched when the fish bites the line, so the enthusiasm for the sport is real.

I had a sense I would like it, so I booked a trip with Harry. It was a fantastic experience. He's a wonderful teacher -- putting up with my complete lack of experience, and explaining things to me at just the right pace. We had a beautiful day on the water, so that didn't hurt. But more than that, Harry is easy going, clearly loves fishing, and respects the natural world. I learned so much from my 5 hours on the water, and I'm inspired to fly fish again soon. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
